About the Event
Ingredients: ( can feed 2-4 people)
2-3 large tomatoes
1 head of lettuce (romaine or iceberg) or 1 bag of mixed greens salad (that's what I typically love to use)
1 onion (yellow or red)
3 tablespoon of sour cream
1 cup of your favorite shredded cheese (I'm using sharp cheddar)
1 pack of small flour tortillas (If you want to transform them into tacos)
1 bag of tortilla chips per your choice (if you get the scoop shaped tortilla chips, that is optimal)
1lb Meat of choice. I will be using ground turkey but (chicken, beyond meat, ground beef, skirt steak, tofu, bell peppers, mushrooms etc can be substituted)
2 packets of MCCORMICK® ORIGINAL TACO SEASONING MIX (original, mild, or spicy, I like to do one packet of mild and the other spicy)
1 tablespoon of olive oil or any cooking oil of your choice
1 teaspoon of butter (option for heating tortillas)
Tools:
Cast Iron skillet or any skillet
Cutting board
Chef knife
Large Spoon
1 large bowl/casserole or baking dish to formulate taco dip in
Directions:
Let's start with chopping our veggies. Cut the onions into cubes(as large or small as you like), chop the tomatoes into small cubes.
Cook meat of choice, this recipe I am using ground turkey. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a cast iron skillet or large skillet. Cook the meat (or veggies/meatless option) until it is brown and use a spoon to crumble the meat as it cooks.
Once meat is done add the two packets of taco seasoning, 1 handful of shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and ¼ cup of water mix together well.
Let's start layering the dip. Place all the meat (or substitute) at the bottom of your bowl or casserole dish
Next spread 3 tablespoons of sour cream (or more if you love sour cream) across the meat to cover all surface
Next level is spreading the lettuce to cover all surface
Next level is to spread the tomatoes and onions on all surfaces
Finish with topping it with the shredded sharp cheddar cheese (use a lot or little to your liking) I love sharp cheddar cheese so Im doing ALOT, lol
Get a big scoop, put it in a bowl and chow down while dipping the tortilla chips in it like its a spoon, ENJOY
(Optional)Clean skillet and prepare your tortillas, heat skillet on a low heat, add butter to the skillet, when melted add the tortilla and sear one side until brown. Not too long or it will become too firm. Add all the dip into one and munch munch munch!
