About the Event
Welcome to the first annual Project Life - OPEN HOUSE.
We hope you can find an hour or two to join us.
This is for the general public. So please share with your friends, family, colleagues, nonprofit organizations that support those living with MBC, oncologists, caregivers, etc...
Here is the schedule for the day:
8-8:45am PT (11:00-11:45am ET) - What is Project Life?
Come and learn how Project Life came to existence and the current study that we are collaborating with Vanderbilt University on MBC Cancer Care Delivery.
Speaker: Lesley Glenn - Founder and Executive Director
9:00-9:45am PT (12:00 - 12:45pm ET) What are Healing Circles?
Join Melinda Feola-Mahar, the director of Healing Circles as she shares what they are and why we have adopted them as part of social-emotional support for the wellness house.
10:00-11:30am PT ( 1:00-2:30pm ET). Ask the Expert - MBC 101
Ask the Expert is one of our most popular conversations in the house. Come and listen to Project Life board member, Janice Cowden, and Dr. Kelly Shanahan, both living with MBC share the basics of this disease and why it is much different than early-stage breast cancer.
The slide presentation is sponsored by the Metastatic Breast Cancer Alliance.
12:00-1:30pm PT (3:00-4:30pm ET) Stuffed Chicken with Shonte and Maia.
Project Life house chef, Shonte Drakeford, teams up with her buddy, Maia Barber to bring you stuffed chicken two ways. They will be cooking live.
Everyone who attends this class will be sent the recipe cards for both.
1:45-2:15pm PT ( 4:45-5:15pm ET). L.I.F.E - The Project Life Mentoring Program.
Director of Mentorship, Abigail Johnston shares what makes our mentoring program stand out from the rest. Living in Full Empowerment is our motto.
2:30-3:30pm PT (5:30-6:30pm ET.) Therapeutic Art /Closing
Dana Georges, one of Project Life's therapeutic art facilitators, will take you through a short activity. Bring crayons and 3-4 pieces of computer paper. Then ED, Lesley will close out our day.
This is also our mid-year fundraiser, so a donation of any kind goes a long way to support our virtual wellness house and to keep our programming free. All donations are tax-deductible. Donate HERE!
Project Life keeps its overhead down so that we can focus on what's important - our members. Therefore, all of our funding is handled by our fiscal sponsor. Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs
